What is MONERO ?

In MY opinion, MONERO is the closest true competitor to Bitcoin, and here's why:

MONERO (XMR)
Private Digital Currency

Monero is a secure, private, and untraceable cryptocurrency. It is open-source and accessible to all. With Monero, you are your own bank. Only you control and are responsible for your funds. Your accounts and transactions are kept private from prying eyes.
Monero is a decentralized cryptocurrency, meaning it is extremely difficult to hack and steal your funds. Transactions are confirmed by distributed consensus, and then immutably recorded on the blockchain. Third-parties do not need to be trusted to keep your Monero safe.
Monero uses ring signatures and ring confidential transactions to obfuscate the amounts, origins, and destinations of all transactions. Monero gains all the benefits of a decentralized cryptocurrency, without any of the standard privacy concessions..
Sending and receiving addresses as well as transacted amounts are obfuscated by default. Transactions on the Monero blockchain cannot be linked to a particular user or real-world identity. Monero is untraceable.
Monero is fungible* because it is private by default. In its current state, it is extremely unlikely that Monero will ever be blacklisted by exchanges or vendors due to its association in previous transactions.
Unlike Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, transactions in the Monero blockchain do not reveal where funds came from or went to, providing anonymity and making the currency completely @fungible. Additionally, the amounts of all transactions are hidden by ringCT, a feature of Monero. For auditing or other transparency purposes a user can share a view key to prove they control certain amounts of Monero.

Once you own Bitcoin, it is easy to buy Monero via a cryptocurrency exchange such as HitBTC. But again, you will need a Monero Wallet.

* Definition of fungible : being something (such as money or a commodity) of such a nature that one part or quantity may be replaced by another equal part or quantity in paying a debt or settling an account. Oil, wheat, and lumber are fungible commodities, fungible goods.
(Thanks to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, since1828)

Monero is the other cryptocurrency worth a good hard look! Don't get carried away with the hundreds of ICOs out there. Most will not survive, and remember the warning regarding platforms. Platforms can be hacked.

So, yes, I buy Monero!
