The bankers are now in a panic! Why? Because their corrupt bogus fiat currency system is indeed collapsing. Nonsense you say? Get real! Actions speak louder than words.
Think about this, when was the last time a banker called you up and said "let me save you money?" or said "Let me pay you more interest on your savings account" or said "Hey, we know those fees and penalties are dishonest, so we're stopping those charges now."? Never heard them say those things? Really? SO, WHY now are the major banks starting to block accounts of customers wanting to BUY cryptocurrencies?
They're NOT worried about you, they're worried about themselves! Still not convinced? Remember 2008? Did you get a bail out for screwing up YOUR business? Nope, in fact, these jackasses were instrumental (actually they wrote it) in making it MORE difficult for the average person to file for bankruptcy! Keep in mind, over 80% of bankruptcies are due to the outrageous medical costs for catastrophic diseases like cancer! So, if the bankers can not extend compassion in life and death situations, do you actually believe their concerns about your financial future are their reasons for restricting you from buying and investing in bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies?
How many times do the bankers have to rip you off, leaving you holding the bag, before you start thinking for yourself? How much more abuse do you want? What is happening right now is your one opportunity to escape this nonsense.
So, here's the work around. All of the credit unions I use, or my friends use, or ones I have contacted lately have NO such restrictions of buying cryptocurrencies or bitcoin. So, find a credit union in your area, join it, deposit your money in the credit union. Then, link your credit union account to your Coinbase account, and POOF, you're in business. Start setting up your cryptocurrency investments. The fiat system collapse has started, so you might want to get busy before it's too late.

ADDENDUM- Feb 4, 2018 - Search YouTube for "market crash" and you will see dozens of new YouTube videos have been posted on YouTube in the last 2 days warning about the crash! People are catching on. Some folks were hard to convince, but now the facts are self-evident. The sell off will gather momentum, if you own stocks being "hopeful" will not help you! You MUST take action NOW!
